Trail Rides Frequently Asked Questions

 Q: What should I wear?
A:
Be sure to wear long pants and weather appropriate clothing. For wintertime rides dress warmly but avoid long jackets that could interfere with your position in the saddle or feet in stirrups. All minors are required to wear ASTM/SEI certified helmets (we provide).

Q: What type of footwear should I bring? Do I need boots?
A: Boots with a small heel work best. We have just about every size of boot that you can borrow so do not worry if you don’t own a pair. We do not allow riding with any other type of shoe.

Q: What should I bring
A: Bring sunblock, water, cell phones or cameras for pictures. Backpacks and bags are fine but cannot be worn while on a horse.

Q: What happens if it rains or weather interferes with the ride?
A: We will make all efforts to proactively reschedule with you if rain looks likely or conditions are muddy. Feel free to call us ahead of time if you have concerns about the weather. If at any point weather conditions make it unsafe we will cancel trail rides at no cost to the rider. Texas heat, cold, and drizzle do not count as unsafe conditions. Contact us if unsure.

Q: What are the riding times?
A: All rides are by appointment only. All rides are conducted during daylight hours and we run trail rides seven days a week. In the summer when heat is high we do not book rides between the hours of 1pm to 5pm for the safety of riders and horses. It’s never too cold to ride in Austin although we will always try to work with you to pick the most comfortable window of time.

Q: How far in advance should I book?
A: Booking at least a week in advance is preferable. We can often take same-day bookings, but not always. If you are trying to book last minute please text 512.956.1662 and we will do our best to accommodate you. Our busiest times are around holidays and SXSW, please book several weeks in advance during peak times.

Q: What are your riding restrictions?
A: Riders must be at least four years old. Riders age 4 - 5 must be assessed individually. Riders age 6-7 can ride independently or be ponied depending on their comfort level. No rider can be over 265 pounds for the safety and health of the horses.

Q: How do photos work on the ride?
A: Our guides will take photos during the ride and you are welcome to take photos yourself during the ride as long as it does not interfere with your safety. Please talk to your guide to make sure they have your contact information to get you your pictures after the ride.
